The hut in the Läntatal valley is an insider tip, not least because of Thomas Meier’s philosophy of offering every guest the best possible stay.

Mountain Culture
As one of the smallest serviced huts, the Länta-Hütte SAC celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2013, while the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) celebrated its 150th anniversary. The hut in the Länta Valley is considered an insider tip, not least due to Thomas Meier’s operating philosophy of offering every guest the best possible stay.
Welcome in the Länta Hütte
“It’s important to always be present,” he says.
“Today’s guests are well prepared and informed, but it still requires personal fine-tuning on site.”
In addition, the Länta Hut SAC has been offering a cultural programme for years, attracting numerous artists, writers and photographers. Together with schools and youth organisations, the hiking network in the rear part of the valley has also been expanded in recent years, making the area very attractive not only for alpinists and climbers, but also for hikers.
Only Accessible on Foot
The Länta Hut SAC is only accessible on foot, so the passionate hut warden and mountaineer Thomas Meier has to fly in six tonnes of food by helicopter at the start of the season, and once or twice a week he and his donkeys walk to Vals to buy fresh produce.
Fresh Food
Fresh food – Meier himself is at the stove. This is important to him. The Länta hut has 33 beds and is run by three people. The season starts with high alpine ski touring from the beginning of March until May. The hiking season starts in mid-June and lasts until mid-October.
