A scenic walk up the sunny side of the valley. Plenty of sunshine and stunning views make this half-day walk well worth the effort.
Enjoy the breathaking view from Leisalp across the opposite mountains and far into the neighboring valleys, reaching as far as Piz d’Anarosa if you’re lucky.
From the gondola station at Gadastatt, follow a narrow path downhill towards Stafelti, then continue on the service road to Leisalp. From Leisalp, head almost level downhill towards Schloss and Brand, passing several alpine and Maiensäss huts. From Brand, gently descend into the valley towards Hüttenen and An der Matta (Maiensässen). From there, continue to Volchtanna and follow the signs, winding down the slope back to Vals.
A detour to the Hängelahütte Bergwirtschaft is worth it: Enjoy a magnificent view and excellent food made from local products. For a shorter tour, you can also return to Vals from Hängelahütte via the service road.
