Bike TrailPeil
From Vals into the Peilertal
Start at Vals Post and ride through the village of Vals to the valley station of the Vals gondola. From there go up the road. The start begins with a steep climb through the Peiler forest. At Waldchappeli the road flattens out and the cool forest provides a welcome respite. The gravel road up to Bodahus is steep again. The reward is a fantastic view of the Peiler mountains and the Valser Horn. Descent on a narrow path through colourful meadows. At Peil, the Peil kiosk invites you to take a break. The rest of the route begins with a flat section, followed by a climb to Maiensäss Tschifera. The path is bumpy and full of gradients. After Tschifera, the descent to the village begins via the Maiensäss Uf dr Matta and Aberschhus on a hiking trail that requires some skill. From Aberschhus you return to Vals on the main road. Return to the valley station via the villages of Rufena and Mura.
You’ll see many highlights along the way, including the Peiler Valley, St Michael’s Chapel in Peil, Geissalp Sust in Peil, the Peilerbach and historic Maiensässes such as Tschifera and Uf dr Matta.
