One of the most popular winter walks in the Valser Valley. The relatively easy walk takes you through open terrain to Zerfreila. Along the way you’ll be surrounded by stunning alpine scenery, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Gadastatt – Frunt – Zerfreila (Panorama trail)
The route from Gadastatt to Zerfreila offers breathtaking views across the valley. You’ll hike through snow-covered moorland and alpine terrain. Above you you’ll see the Dachberg, a haven for skiers and off-piste adventurers seeking perfect conditions.
At Frunt, 1,990 metres above sea level, you’ll find the historic St. Anna Chapel, built in 1754, perched on a dramatic rock face. From this vantage point you can see the Zerfreila reservoir with the majestic Zerfreilahorn (the ‘Grisons Matterhorn’) towering 2,821 metres above the lake – a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Slide back down:
In winter you can return by sledge if conditions permit. The 7 km long toboggan run to Vals is an unforgettable experience. Sledges can be hired at the Zervreila Restaurant.
Please always enquire whether the Zervreila restaurant is open.
